This adjustable constant current regulator (CCR) is a simple, economical, and rugged device that provides a cost-effective solution for regulating current in LEDs (similar to a constant current diode CCD). The (CCR) is based on self-biasing transistor (SBT) technology and regulates the current based on a wide voltage range. It uses a negative temperature coefficient to protect the LED from thermal collapse at extreme voltages and currents. The constant current regulator will turn on immediately and use only 0.5 V Vak for 25% regulation. The Radj pin allows Ireg(SS) to be regulated to higher currents by connecting a resistor between the Radj (pin 3) and the cathode (pin 4). The Radj pin can also be left open (no connection) if no condition is required. No external components are required, so it can be designed to be used as a high voltage side or low voltage side regulator. The high anode-cathode voltage rating withstands power surges common in automotive, industrial, and commercial sign applications. The device features high-temperature resistant encapsulation, is leadless and RoHS compliant, and uses halogen-free molded composite parts. Meets the requirements of AEC-Q101 standard and is UL94-V0 certified.
