The VHC74 is an advanced high-speed CMOS dual D-type flip-flop fabricated on a silicon-gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation similar to an equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power consumption. The signal level applied to the D input is transferred to the Q output during the positive transition of the CK pulse. CLR# and PR# are independent of CK by setting the corresponding input low. An input protection circuit ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface 5V systems with 3V systems and both power systems, such as battery backup. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
