The VHC374A is an advanced high-speed CMOS octal flip-flop fabricated in silicon-gate CMOS technology with 3-state output. It achieves high-speed operation similar to the equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining low power consumption in CMOS. The 8-bit D-type flip-flop is controlled by a clock input (CP) and an output-enable input (OE#). When the OE# input is high, the eight outputs are in a high-impedance state. The input protection circuit ensures that 0 to 7V can be applied to the input and output (Note 1) pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface 5V to 3V systems and two power systems such as backup batteries. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatch between power supply and input voltage.
