The NCP1562x is a family of voltage mode controllers for DC-DC converters requiring high energy efficiency and fewer parts. These controllers combine two non-inverting outputs with overlapping delays to prevent simultaneous turn-on for soft switching. The main output is used to drive the forward converter main MOSFET. The auxiliary output is used to drive an active clamp MOSFET, a synchronous rectifier on the auxiliary side, or an asymmetrical half-bridge circuit. The NCP1562 series integrates high accuracy in important specifications such as maximum duty cycle limit, undervoltage detector, and overcurrent threshold, reducing parts count and system size. Two distinct features of the NCP1562 are soft cutoff and cycle skipping current limit with time threshold. If a critical fault is detected, the soft cut-off circuit gradually shuts down the converter power in a controlled manner. A cycle skip detector implements a soft cut-off sequence in the event of a continuous overcurrent condition. Additional features of the NCP1562 include line feed-forward, frequency synchronization up to 1.0 MHz, cycle-by-cycle current limit with leading-edge spacing (LEB), independent undervoltage and overvoltage detectors, adjustable output overlap delay, programmable maximum duty cycle ratio, internal start-up circuit and soft start.
