The UAA2016 drives triacs using zero-voltage technology, thus enabling RFI-free power regulation of resistive loads. Operating directly from the AC power line, its main application is the fine regulation of electronic heating systems such as panel heaters or soldering irons. A built-in digital sawtooth waveform allows ratiometric temperature regulation operation within +/-1°C of the set point. For energy saving, there is a programmable temperature reduction function, and for safety, the sensor failsafe will suppress the output pulse when the sensor link is broken. Also available for preset temperature (eg defrost) applications. In applications requiring high hysteresis, the value can be adjusted up to 5°C above and below the set point. All of these functions are implemented using minimal external components.
